It’s great to say hi. I’m looking forward to working with you. First Lesson Checklist: Everything in aviaiton has a checklist. So should your first lesson! Photo ID (Drivers License, etc.) TSA Documentation (Passport, etc.) Written Exam Score Report, if you have one Any flight training gear you already have (don’t go buying anything for the first lesson) Logbook, if you have one My Availability: I’m usually available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons/evenings and I have pretty good weekend availability, as well. We can work on “big picture” scheduling to make sure our schedules overlap, and then we can start getting lessons scheduled on the calendar. I’d like to get scheduled with you soon so that we can start your flight instruction. With some advanced planning, I should be able to accommodate your schedule. ...

Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)

IPC Checklist IPC Checklist in PDF Format Here’s a handy checklist to use when performing an IPC. Fold the paper in half, and you can use the front to check off the required tasks (from the Instrument ACS) and the back side to take notes about the flight for debrief. It also includes the relevant endorsement from AC 61-65H for documenting a successful IPC. IPC Plan of Action: Ground review of instrument flight rules, flight planning, and the specific flight for the IPC. Identify the following to be used during the flight portion of the IPC: Non-Precision Approach Precision Approach Hold (can be part of a missed approach procedure) Airway/course to track Location for airwork Flight Portion of IPC (dependent on winds/weather): Normal takeoff Unusual Attitudes Tracking a navaid course Partial-Panel Approach(es) VOR approach to a timed MAP VOR/DME with a DME Arc RNAV/GPS to LNAV mimia RNAV/GPS to LP minima Localizer Approach Localizer Backcourse Approach Circling Approach Missed Approach Hold Precision Approach to a Landing ILS RNAV/GPS to LPV minima If time allows, it’s better to fly two non-precision approaches, one partial panel to a missed approach and one to circling minima to a landing. ...
